the challenge

Across North America, the family farm is at a crossroads. With the average U.S. farmer now 58 years old and millions approaching retirement (USDA, 2022), over 150 million acres of farmland are expected to change hands within the decade (American Farmland Trust). Rising land prices and consolidation have made small-scale, regenerative farming increasingly difficult, giving way to large commercial operations reliant on chemical inputs and extractive practices that strain both soil and community. As family farms disappear, so too does a way of life—one defined by local knowledge, stewardship, and the culture of working the land.

the Solution

White Oaks School Farm, a nonprofit organization that stands at the intersection of legacy and renewal -
a place where land, knowledge, and opportunity unite to cultivate the next generation of American farmers.

Where the Future of Farming Takes Root

Training farmers, transforming land, and preserving the legacy of family agriculture.

How we serve our mission:

  • Land Access

Located in Stillwater, Minnesota, White Oaks School Farm provides direct access to fertile farmland with unique proximity to both the Twin Cities metro and one of the state’s leading tourist destinations. This allows aspiring and active producers to live and train in either rural or urban settings while building real-world experience and long-term market connections.

  • World-class training

Through our exclusive MGI model, participants gain mastery in modern bio-intensive and small-scale farming systems, infrastructure design and management, financial stewardship, and go-to-market execution—building both resilience and profitability from the ground up.

  • FUTURE PATHWAYS

White Oaks School Farm creates a living network of shared expertise, mentorship, and resources, guiding participants toward farm transition and ownership. Our model is replicable by design, forming regional hubs of innovation that preserve the land, empower farmers, and strengthen rural economies for generations to come.
